(Documentary Feature, 2017, Premiere SXSW)
When Nate Hamilton’s brother, Dontre, was shot fourteen times by a police officer in Milwaukee Wisconsin, his family was thrust into the national spotlight.
The Blood is at the Doorstep documents two years in the life of his family, and the city he calls home. The story follows Nate, his mother and Milwaukee’s police and politicians as they struggle to come to terms with the lost of a son and a brother — and attempt to overcome a legacy of racism in a city that is arguably the most segregated in America.
Juggling multiple perspectives, this is a complex and comprehensive feature documentary.
